🥳 🥳  🥳 🥳 Meaningful XR 2026 rocked!  🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 

MXR 2026 in Portland marked our largest and most diverse program yet, bringing together more than 200 contributing authors and featuring 96 presentations—more than double the 45 presented at the inaugural 2024 conference. The program also reflected the evolution of the MXR community’s research: from early foundations in presence, immersion, empathy, intergroup contact, and videoconferencing fatigue; through applications in STEM education, wellness, AI-assisted experiences, and global access; to emerging work in 2026 on smartglasses and wearables, healing-centered XR, marine conservation, neurodivergent populations, AI avatars, and accessibility. We are grateful to the presenters, authors, reviewers, volunteers, organizers, and in-person and virtual attendees who made MXR 2026 possible, as well as our sponsors: the University of Oregon School of Journalism & Communication, Snap (Spectacles), Oregon Reality Lab, University of Miami, Tokyo Dome Corporation, University of Florida, Annenberg School XR Lab, and SPARTIE Lab at Michigan State University.

• • The Innovation Building parking lot is located at the corner of NE Holman St and NE 27th Ave. You can park anywhere - a parking permit is not needed at this time. Once parked, the Innovation Building is to the right of the Duck statue. Refer to the Campus Map in front of the parking lot for detailed information (see here for a digital version).

• Physical attendance of at least one author is required for presentations of papers, panels, or demos.

• Hybrid presentation will only be available for posters (though in-person poster presentations are preferred). 

• Hybrid attendance will also be available for remote participants to attend selected presentations and social events using a VR headset, computer, or mobile device. 

• BYOVR (Bring Your Own VR) is recommended for in-person attendees (if you have one) to attend hybrid sessions during the conference, though we will also have some VR headsets available for use if you do not have your own.

• Faculty Participant: $450

• Student Participant—Early Bird: $200

• Student Participant—Regular: $225

• Remote Attendance (Faculty/Industry)—$110

• Remote Attendance (Student)—$60

• Need-based travel scholarships may be available for students and early career scholars.
